The YMSA had another successful weekend as 230 riders turned up for the 13th round of the championship. The outlook for the day wasn’t looking great as it rained as riders were signing on but the weather soon cleared up, leaving the track in great condition for racing.

The Senor riders took to the track first and it was Ben Halfpenny who easily dominated this class today, taking all three race wins. Second position in races one and two went to Josh Cadman but things didn’t go too well for Josh in race three as he finished in eleventh. Luckily for Josh, this didn’t affect his overall points and he went home with second overall. Alex Hilton gained the second position finish in race three, which boosted his points for the day up and allowed him to take third overall.

This weekend we had an excellent turnout of Cadet riders, which is just what we want to see at a schoolboy motocross club! Jack Grayson showed great style as he took the first race win of the day, closely followed by Ellis Jones and Alfie Rudd. Race two saw a different rider take the chequered flag. It was Oliver Johnson who rode to victory and Ellis came in second position again. Ellis then pushed hard in race three to take the final race win, leading him to take overall first position. Jack took second overall and Oliver took third overall.

Rhys Upton was on fire as the gate dropped for the Juniors in race one and he rode hard to keep the top spot. Kurtis Griffiths didn’t give an inch as he came in second, followed closely by Connor Fish. In races two and three, it was Sammy Price who pushed to take the chequered flag and was rewarded with first overall. Rhys also had good results to allow him to finish second overall. Lewis Hall took third overall with a mixed set of results 5-2-3.

It wasn’t a surprise to see Joe Jacques on top form again, riding in the Small Wheel class. He took all three race wins, showing the rest of the riders how it should be done. Visitor James Camwell took the second positions in race one and three, securing his overall second place. Overall points for the day were close between Aaron Hanson and Daniel Shepherd as both had a mixed set of results but it was Aaron’s second place finish in race two meant he took third overall.

Macauley Madden stormed the track all day in the Big Wheel class, taking all three chequered flags and maximum points for the day. The racing was close all day between Kenny Ryalls, Kurtis Williams and Will Jeonney but it was Kenny who succeeded to take second overall with two second positions and a third. Kurtis finished third overall.

Due to a medical incident, the racing for the Adult groups had to be cut short, so only two races were completed per class..

Ashley Wilde pushed hard in the first race for the Adult Open A’s to cross the chequered flag first. James Lassu and Tom Batty closely followed behind. Race two saw James take the race win and gain enough points to finish first overall. Tom Batty finished overall and Lee Harrison took third.

Scott Hedley pulled it out of the bag in race one for the Adult Open B’s with Arran Woodall finishing second. John Cooper finished third in race one. However, it was Shaun Bamford who took the race win for race two, with Scott finishing in Second. Scott took first overall with Shaun taking second and John in third.

Everything was to ride for in the Adult Open C class as both Matt Byard and Ben Grayson finished the day on equal points. However, it was Matt’s race win in race two which secured him the trophy for first overall. Ben took second overall and Gareth Stead finished third overall.
