MX1 & MX2 WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS KICK OFF THIS WEEKEND

qatar-preview

This weekend sees the start of the 2013 FIM Motocross World Championship season in Qatar.

It is set to be an historical event for a number of reasons; it is the first race of the 2013 season; it is the first-ever MXGP to be held in the Middle East; and the first to be run at night under floodlights and with the new Super Final format.

This will be the first international motocross event to be held at Losail, however, the facility is no stranger to world class racing as it regularly hosts round one of the MotoGP championship.

Another notable highlight of the weekend is that Livia Lancelot, 2008 FIM Women’s Motocross World Champion, will be competing in the MX2 class. She will be the second woman to ever take part in the FIM Motocross World Championship, after Mariana Balbi, who took part in the Brazilian Grand Prix in 2009.

The first round of 18 gets underway with MX2 free practice on Friday 1 March at 17.00 hours local time (two hours ahead of CET) and the whole programme can be caught on www.mx-life.tv
